Moroccan Oil Review

Last week I finally went back to my favorite salon, Le Fleur, since quarantine began. I’m fortunate enough to have my sister, Markayla, as a hairstylist. She’s always hooking me up! I only needed a trim but she wanted to leave my hair natural (I normally get it straightened) and use the salon’s new Moroccan Oil products on me.

I was excited because I recently got Moroccan Oil as a birthday gift and love it! The salon had so many different Moroccan Oil products! It blew my mind. But with my sister being a hair expert she knew exactly what my curls needed.

The magic formula

First she cleansed my hair with the Curl Cleansing Conditioner. I love this co-wash! It comes out as foam so it’s really light and easy to get through all my hair.

After we left the shampoo room and went back to the chair she put in the Moroccan Oil. As I mentioned I already have this product at home and love it! I use it when my hair is anyway – wet, dry, natural, or straightened.

Now this is where Markayla’s expertise come in. She created a whole regimen for me (I ended up getting all the products she used so I can continue to use the regimen at home)! The next thing she added to my hair was the Hydrating Styling Cream. She worked the product through every part of my hair, sectioning it off into four sections.

Then she used the smoothing lotion. This product is thicker than the other products so she only needed a few pumps. When I use this product at home I like to use it to help seal my twists when I’m doing a twist out style like in the picture below.

And the last product she used was the Intense Curl Cream. This is one of my favorite products out of all of them!

The Intense Curl Cream is my favorite type of product for my natural hair. The consistency and texture of the cream is thick and smooth. It reminds me of a leave-in conditioner but lighter and not sticky. I also love this product because it really enhances my curl. Typically I apply Moroccan or Argan Oil to my hair (while still wet) then apply Mixed Chick’s AND Cantu leave-in conditioners. Now mind you it took me about 5 years to find the exact products that get the job done for my hair. My hair is prone to frizz and dryness. I’ve gone through so much money and many different products (and even Class Actions!) to finally find my Mixed Chicks and Cantu formula.

I’ve been doing the Moroccan Oil regimen for about a week now and my hair is so incredibly soft and moisturized. The thing that I love the most about the products is that I know they’re safe for my hair. My hair already has damage from harmful products, heat, bleach, and color. I’ve been fortunate enough to repair my hair the past few years but have definitely gained an awareness that some products can be harmful. I would definitely recommend the Moroccan Oil line to everyone! Whether you have fine or curly hair, it gets the job done plus so much more. My hair doesn’t feel weighed down or sticky like it normally would. Although the products may cost a little more they are completely worth it! I’m so glad I made the switch to Moroccan Oil.

If you are local and also want a customized Moroccan Oil regimen book an appointment with Markayla!

Meet the Next Breakout Artist to Watch Out for in 2020!

Meet Jan Dready, the next breakout artist to look out for this year! Last week I got the chance to sit down with him for a one-on-one interview. In May he dropped his summer hit “Blue Face.” With the buzz from his single… he is getting attention from Hot 97 where he earned 9th place out of 100 contestants in the “Who’s Next” competition. He is also one of the top competitors in this year’s Coast to Coast lineup.  Here is what he had say!

1. What got you into music?

My uncle Roger. He was very musically gifted. He would always dance and sing around the house. He was like an older brother to me.

2. Which artists would you like to collaborate with?

Post Malone, Chris Brown, Kid Cudi, Kanye, Sabrina Claudio… there’s too many to name!

3. If you can have your fans remember one thing about you, what would it be?

How great of an actual human being I was!

4. If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Always stick to what you want and don’t let the opinions of others alter your true destiny.

5. What instruments do you play?

My vocals and I’m currently learning guitar.

6. Which artists inspire you the most?

Kid Cudi, Kanye, and Nipsey Hussle

7. What artists have you learned from and what did they teach you?

I learned a lot from Nipsey Hussle. Mostly on how to be self-sufficient and have follow through.

8. Who are your favorite artists/what are your favorite albums?

Nipsey Hussle’s “Crenshaw” and Kid Cudi’s “Man on the Moon”

9. What advice do you have for new/upcoming artists?

Be as different as possible.

10. What do you enjoy the most about being an artist/songwriter?

The reaction of my fans and how my music affects them.

11. What next is coming in the upcoming months?

Just keeping my head down and focusing on the elevation of my brand. Also more music is on the way!

12. How did you learn to sing/write/play instruments?

When I was really young I started going to Southend Boys & Girls Club where a lady named Demmarie noticed my talent. She formulated a group around me where I would always be front and center. We performed all over, even out of state. I learned how to sing and write on my own from that experience. And now I am teaching myself how to play the guitar.

13. What is one thing you would like to change about the music industry?

How fickle it is.

14. What is the story behind your name?

My first name is Jan (pronounced John), it stems from the French language where I have family ties. Dready comes from the style of my hair.

15. Describe your sound.

Universal!

Jan Dready’s fans are all rooting to see him win the Coast to Coast tour! We cannot wait to hear his new music! Be on the lookout! His music is available on all social media platforms:
